Cops fear missing Kitchener-Waterloo student victim of foul play

Homicide detectives almost always take a recalcitrant approach to details in most investigations.

When they utter the chilling words that “foul play is suspected,” they are delivering horrific news in the most sanitized fashion they know.

That phrase has a kissing cousin: “Hoping for the best but fearing the worst.”

And so it is with Sir Wilfred Laurier University social work student Eli Wood.

Cops believe the slight baby-faced kid from Nova Scotia was targeted. They won’t say why. Nor will they cop to what led them to fear the worst. They are, as we might say, tight-lipped.
