Srinagar, Nov 06: A massive cordon and search operation continued for the second day on Thursday in Kishtwar district to track down at least two to three terrorists who are believed to be hiding in the dense forests of Chhatru after an encounter with security forces on Wednesday.
The gunfight erupted during an intelligence-based operation jointly launched by the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police in the Kalaban forest area, officials said. One soldier was injured in the exchange of fire.
Army spokesperson said that alert troops of the White Knight Corps, in coordination with J&K Police, established contact with terrorists in the general area of Chhatru. Fire was exchanged, and the operation is in progress.
