Projectors, LED fixtures, automated rigging and more technology upgrades will help bring magical worlds to life as full-scale productions return to Arts United Center.
Fort Wayne Civic Theatre’s production of “Frozen” and Fort Wayne Ballet’s “The Nutcracker” will be the first major shows to take advantage of technical and accessibility improvements at the performing arts venue, which reopened in October after a $41.5 million renovation project. Arts United of Greater Fort Wayne Inc., which operates the venue, estimates about 20% of the project’s cost was for theatrical technology equipment. That estimate – about $8.3 million – does not include the infrastructure improvements needed so the equipment would work.
