CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - The United Way of Southeast Missouri gave $3,000 to area food pantries.

According to the United Way, the money is from an emergency fund and will go to food pantries in its service area of Cape Girardeau, Perry, Bollinger and northern Scott Counties.

“These donations come at a crucial time as local pantries begin seeing more people worried about how to feed their families. When there is a need in the community, United Way is there,” Mark Stone, director of market development, said in a news release. “We want to make sure local food pantries have the support they need to continue serving families who might be affected by the shutdown.”
