A panel of professionals on Thursday shared tips for immigrants struggling to find a foothold in the Canadian job market, advising them to build trust by seeking mentorship, gaining referrals and networking with peers in industry associations, while nudging employers to reward their cultural intelligence.
The panel was one of several conversations hosted by the Calgary Region Immigrant Employment Council (CRIEC) at the Best Western Premier Calgary Plaza Hotel as part of their annual event, Thrive, featuring several industry associations and professionals in a wide range of fields who are immigrants or people of colour.
