NORTH CHARLESTON – David Beaufort was not acting in self-defense when he shot at an officer in December 2021 and then emptied his gun into the mother of his child, a jury decided.

Nearly four years after Andrea Michelle Inabunet Reynolds , 26, called 911 to get medical help for Beaufort, he stood trial for fatally shooting her. Beaufort, now 43, was also charged with firing at the North Charleston police officer who responded to his Ranger Drive home and found the two struggling over a handgun.

His attorney argued Beaufort had armed himself out of fear. The prosecution asserted he shot at officer Jamie Sylvester and killed Reynolds in a fit of rage. After hearing the facts throughout a four-day trial, the jury found Beaufort guilty on Nov. 6.
