SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) — A 63-year-old woman is dead after a crash near Springfield Thursday afternoon.

Illinois State Police responded to I-55 southbound near milepost 88 just after 12 p.m. for reports of a single-vehicle crash.

According to the Sangamon County Coroner, a 63-year-old woman was the driver and only person in the car.

Her identity is being withheld until the next of kin is notified, and an autopsy is scheduled for Friday.

The right lane of I-55 southbound was closed for about two hours.

The crash is still under investigation.
