COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - Two 17-year-olds were placed in custody Thursday after a carjacking in Bishopville led to a chase across three counties.
According to Bishopville Police, officers were informed of a carjacking at Food Lion in Bishopville on Thursday, around noon. Law enforcement confirmed a female victim was carjacked by two people at gunpoint.
Bishopville Police said the stolen vehicle was spotted traveling on I-20 by deputies from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office. When deputies attempted to stop the car, the suspects began a chase through parts of Lee, Sumter, and Kershaw Counties.
Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, and Kershaw County Sheriff’s Office all participated in the pursuit, law enforcement confirmed.
