NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WTNH) — It is a troubling trend across Connecticut. More and more young people are becoming the targets of violence.

Now, there's a growing united effort between pastors and police aimed at saving lives.

They are the shootings ripped from the headlines, and no Connecticut community is immune. One example is 15-year-old Kaiden Phillips, who was gunned down in September in New Haven.

The alleged gunman is 13 years old, according to police.

For the Phillips' family, there's grief, of course, and so much anger.

"This is not normal behavior," said Alex Ketchum, who is the victim's grandfather. "This kid is 13 years old; it's a learned behavior. He walked up to a 13-year-old, point-blank range and murdered him."
