STRASBURG — Lydia’s Family Thrift Shop opened the doors at its new location on John Marshall Highway (Route 55) east of Strasburg after a substantial rent increase at its previous location on East King Street forced the thrift shop to relocate.

Previously called Lydia's Closet, the store — which shares its proceeds with local nonprofits — celebrated its grand opening in mid-September.

“I feel really good,” said Lydia’s Family Thrift Shop manager Kathleen “Kath” Stanley, walking around the brightly lit shop. “We had 57 people here at our ribbon-cutting. That’s big for us. Usually, we have 40 to 45. Fifty seven was the biggest number we’ve ever had in the shop.”
