Travelers across the U.S. are spending their Thursday waiting to see if upcoming booked flights will be disrupted amid reductions in air traffic caused by the ongoing federal shutdown.

The Federal Aviation Administration is imposing a 10% reduction in flights at 40 airports across the country — a measure that will be phased in starting on Friday. Airlines began canceling and shuffling flights on Thursday.

The list of affected airports, obtained by the Associated Press, includes dozens of major hubs, including John F. Kennedy International in New York, George Bush Intercontinental in Houston and Los Angeles International in California.

For those traveling out of New Orleans, the Louis Armstrong International Airport has been spared from the initial phase of cutbacks. No Louisiana airport
