Investigations into the startling heist at the Louvre have revealed the simple password to its video security system and suggested that it was only a matter of time before it was compromised.
The Louvre, the most famous and iconic art museum on the planet, was robbed last month in a scene straight out of a movie from the ‘Oceans’ franchise – or to keep it local, ‘Lupin’.
The thieves made off with an estimated $102 million in crown jewels, completing the heist in under eight minutes, in full view of tourists and in broad daylight, with the museum open for business.
Some suspects have been arrested, while others remain at large.
According to a French newspaper, Libération, the Paris attraction’s video surveillance was “Louvre.”
