MONTPELIER, Vt. (WCAX) - A new report shows weatherization provides significant savings for Vermonters, but there are steep upfront costs.

The data shows that on average, Vermont families pay $7,000 a year in energy costs.

In a new report , the nonprofit Energy Action Network says energy costs make up $3 billion a year, including $2 billion for fossil fuels in heating and transportation.

The report shows significant savings for Vermonters for weatherizing, installing heat pumps and EVs, but there are large upfront costs, and many federal subsidies are coming to an end.
