President Donald Trump couldn’t hide his envy as he bragged to Senate Republicans that he wants his Cabinet to show the same kind of fear and submission he recently witnessed in another world leader’s inner circle — China’s President Xi Jinping.

The boast, delivered over breakfast at the White House Wednesday, quickly spiraled into one of Trump’s most revealing moments yet. He described his recent encounter with Xi in vivid detail, praising how the Chinese leader’s subordinates stood rigidly at attention in his presence.

“And every one of those people were standing like this,” Trump said, thrusting his arms back and lifting his chin. “They were at attention.”
