Two people are facing murder, attempted murder and arson charges more than two months after a Richmond Hill home was allegedly set ablaze, killing a young child and an adult.

On Thursday, York Regional Police announced the arrests of a 42-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man.

An extended family of five were sound asleep when a suspicious fire engulfed a residence in the area of Skywood Dr. and Rollinghill Rd. – northwest of Yonge St. and Gamble rd. – around 3 a.m. on Sept. 1, police said at the time.

The victims, a 70-year-old man, three women aged 59, 42 and 24, and an 11-year-old girl, were rushed to hospital in critical condition .

Paramedics said four of the victims didn’t have any vital signs.
