Michael Misa has hit a hurdle in his rookie campaign.

The San Jose Sharks placed the second-overall pick in this year’s NHL Draft on injured reserve on Thursday, meaning he’ll be out at least seven days.

Misa left Wednesday’s morning skate with a lower-body injury, Sheng Peng of SJ Hockey Now reported. He was scheduled to play Wednesday night’s game against Seattle before the injury.

Misa has been in and out of the lineup for the Sharks, playing seven of 15 games. He has one goal and two assists in that span.

If he plays 10 games, the first year of his entry-level contract will kick in.

Misa, 18, is not eligible for the AHL, meaning he’d have to go back to the OHL’s Saginaw Spirit if he does not stick with the Sharks. San Jose will also have a decision to make on whether to make Misa
