The archives of David McCullough, including two Pulitzer Prizes for biography and letters to and from several U.S. Presidents, are now owned by the Heinz History Center in the Strip District.
The announcement comes just a few months after the publication on Sept. 16 of “History Matters,” a collection of posthumous essays by the Pittsburgh native. Dorie McCullough, the author’s daughter, was one of the editors of that book along with his longtime researcher, Michael Hill.
The Heinz History Center, which is affiliated with the Smithsonian Institution, will present select materials from the late historian’s archives, including his typewriter and Pulitzer Prizes for the biographies “Truman” and “John Adams”, during a program to celebrate the launch of “History Matters” on Nov. 19.
