CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - Happy Slapowitz Toy Bash toy drive will return to downtown Cape Girardeau on December 12.

The event starts with dinner at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Spanish Street at 6 p.m.

The public can participate in the event by bringing a new, unwrapped toy or $10 to a participating location downtown.

The toys and donations benefit the Marine Corps League’s Toys for Tots program and the Jaycees’ Toybox event.

The organization has not finalized the participating bars, so there is still time to sponsor the event or volunteer to help.

Since the event began more than two decades ago, Happy Slapowitz has collected more than half a million dollars in toys and cash for children in need.
