ALEXANDRIA, La. (KALB) - Alexandria Senior High School is celebrating a major milestone, honoring the Marine Corps’ 250th birthday and the school’s 44 years of excellence in its Marine Corps JROTC program.
The program hosted its annual birthday ceremony, marking 250 years of the United States Marine Corps and more than four decades of service to the Central Louisiana community. The celebration featured the traditional Marine Corps cake-cutting and a special medal presentation.
Louisiana’s Secretary of Veterans Affairs presented the nation’s highest JROTC award to ASH Cadet Company Commander Major Nathan Smith. This was the first time an ASH student has earned the honor. Only 14 cadets across the country received the medal this year out of more than 450,000 JROTC members nationwide.
