ARLINGTON, Texas — Arlington police have charged a suspect with capital murder in connection with the shooting death of a man in 2021.
Police charged 39-year-old Jason Reyes with the murder of Alphonso Lewis Jr., who officials say was found shot dead in December 2021 inside his southwest Arlington apartment.
Officers were first called to the shooting at about 4:59 p.m. Dec. 10, 2021, to an apartment complex in the 6300 block of Rivertrail Circle. Upon reaching the apartment, police say they found Lewis unresponsive on the kitchen floor with a gunshot wound to his dead. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police say that, based on video evidence found inside the apartment, Lewis and the suspect appeared to be engaging in high-risk drug activity when the shooting occurred.
