PORTLAND, Maine — Abby Johnston first met Maine metalsmith and artist Tim McCreight during her time at Maine College of Art in Portland.
Johnston said McCreight has a way of seeing his students' potential and honing in on what makes their skills special and unique to them.
She was so inspired by his work and who he was, she decided to write a book about him and his art. It's called ' Tim McCreight: Marks of a Maker ' and features stories about and from McCreight as well as his pieces. They range from small knives to jewelry to utensils and more. Each piece is created by hand.
McCreight said he didn't see the book until it was published and that he was flattered by the recognition. The book is broken up into different chapters, but Johnston wanted readers to feel as though they could o
