SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) – A 141-year-old, single-room church in Sioux Falls is getting a facelift.

The old Free Methodist Church, built in 1884 on the corner of 14th Street and 4th Avenue, had sat empty for multiple years before Scott and Greta Kraft purchased the building in 2017.

After eight years of searching for the right contractors to restore the building, work is finally starting. The Kraft’s plan on turning the old church into a rentable Vrbo house.

“One day, I went by it and it was for sale and I said we could take the money that we would have spent on a condo and buy the church and fix that up. It just took us a little longer than we thought. But it'll be worth it because we want to do it right,” Greta said in an interview with KELOLAND News.
