Investors in the Sovereign Gold Bond (SGB) 2017–18 Series VI have seen their holdings mature on Thursday (November 6) with a redemption price of ₹12,066 per gram, according to the Reserve Bank of India (RBI).
The final redemption price is based on the simple average of closing prices of gold of 999 purity published by the India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA) over the previous three business days — October 31, November 3, and November 4, 2025.
The tranche, issued on November 6, 2017, was priced at ₹2,945 per gram for offline investors and ₹2,895 per gram for those applying online.
Based on the ₹2,945 issue price, investors have earned a price return of around 309% over eight years, excluding the 2.5% annual interest component paid semi-annually during the bond’s tenure.
