LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - It’s a fresh start for Laredo’s Salvation Army. The organization re-inaugurated its building on the 400 block of Matamoros Street this morning, marking a renewed commitment to helping those in need.
For more than a century, the Salvation Army has offered a variety of community services — from daily meals to support programs for local families.
“We have meals, meals for the people, every day, except Sunday because we have service because we are preachers,” said Major Gabrial Elias with the Salvation Army. “In the morning they have breakfast, all the people who come to the service.”
The re-opening comes just ahead of the Salvation Army’s annual bell campaign, which helps raise funds to support their holiday and year-round outreach efforts.
