PROVO — A pedestrian was hit and killed by a Union Pacific train at a railroad crossing in Provo on Thursday, police said.
The Provo Police Department said the collision happened at approximately 10:15 a.m. at 600 S. Freedom Boulevard.
Spokesperson Janna Lee Holland with the Provo Police Department said the victim was a 35-year-old man. She said the railroad crossing lights were on and the crossarms were down, but the man went around and was hit.
“The road will be closed for the next couple of hours while investigators work at the scene. Thanks for your patience,” the department said.
No other information was immediately available.
