SALT LAKE CITY — Nov. 11 is Veterans Day, marking 107 years from the armistice at the end of the first World War on Nov. 11, 1918.

The following year, according to the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs, President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed Nov. 11 as the first commemoration of Armistice Day, which was later formalized in 1926. After many changes, the modern celebration is known as Veterans Day in 1954, which now takes place every Nov. 11, regardless of day of the week.

During the week leading up to Veterans Day , organizations across Utah are working hard to support the men and women who served their country.
