LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Laredoans and environmental groups are voicing concerns about how federal border wall construction could affect local neighborhoods and natural spaces in South Texas.
The city of Laredo recently received an official notice from the federal government about plans to move forward with border wall construction along the southern border, including areas in Webb and Zapata counties.
“We don’t want to be imprisoned behind a wall because the wall won’t only create a barrier for immigration,” said Margarita Araiza, a Laredoan. “It will literally keep our residents behind a prison wall.”
