A California driver made a creative attempt to get out of a ticket for a recent traffic violation, police said.
"In a last-ditch effort to get out of a citation, the driver handed over a Monopoly 'Get Out of Jail Free' card," the Fullerton Police Department posted on Tuesday.
After a good laugh, the officer reminded the motorist that while creativity is appreciated, the card was not a legal defense and advised him to "save the card for a rainy day."
The driver left with "a smile - and a real citation," police said.
The unusual encounter is just par for the course in the daily life of an officer. "You never know what's going to happen on a traffic stop...," the post read.
