OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - A new program launching in Omaha will provide unconditional monthly cash payments to pregnant women in an effort to break the cycle of childhood poverty.

The Bridge Project will offer up to $750 each month for three years to 350 eligible pregnant women in Douglas County, with no restrictions on how the money is spent.

“We know moms really matter,” said Suzanna Fritzberg, executive director of The Bridge Project. “There’s this critical development window that happens, especially birth to three and cash support during that time, both our data and external data shows can be really meaningful in enhancing child health outcomes.”
