MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - As potential plans for data centers take shape, Dane County Board Chair Patrick Miles and other county officials announced a resolution Thursday to create an advisory committee focused on data centers.
The committee would study the risks, benefits and questions raised by large-scale data center development, according to Miles.
“Community residents nationwide have expressed frustration and mistrust regarding proposed projects,” Miles said. “We saw that earlier this week in DeForest as residents packed the village board meeting.”
Data centers are buildings that businesses use to process, store and share information.
Miles said understanding their impact can be complex.
