HENRY COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - One person was killed in a Henry County house fire Friday at a home on Fellowship Drive, according to the Henry County Fire Marshal.
The Horsepasture Fire Department and the Ridgeway Fire Department responded to the call at 12:26 a.m. after a Sheriff’s deputy saw the fire while out on patrol.
The building was up in flames by the time crews arrived.
One person was found dead inside the home. The Medical Examiner’s Office has not yet identified the victim, but confirms the cause of death was smoke inhalation.
The home is a total loss and the one other resident is being assisted by the Red Cross.
The fire is believed to have started in the back bedroom of the home, but the cause has not been determined, according to the Fire Marshal’s Office.
