OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - With the first chance of flurries this coming weekend, we know the colder months are ahead.
If you haven’t already, you may be thinking about getting your car winter weather ready and wondering about the city’s plan to keep you safe on the roads.
Today, Omaha City Engineer Austin Rowser told First Alert 6 they’ve already fully stocked salt and brine for de-icing and the city council approved plow driver contracts.
In years past, the city ahs hired between 22 and 24 contracted drivers to clear neighborhoods.
Rowser says this year there are 18 -- however, that number can change throughout the season depending on subcontracts.
He also spoke about changes this year, saying they are equipping trucks with AI technology to make them more efficient.
