CHEYENNE — A local man charged with 22 counts of felony animal cruelty pleaded not guilty Thursday to all charges in Laramie County District Court.

On Oct. 10, during a warrant service on Michael Ohern’s residence in the 200 block of H Bar E Drive, Laramie County Sheriff’s Office deputies found more than 100 animals suffering or deceased in extremely unclean conditions.

This included what authorities initially thought was 22 dead animals, but turned out to be 26 dead animals once a veterinarian was able to identify four house cats that were “so decayed that it was hard to initially separate the carcasses.”

Ohern’s bond was lowered from $100,000 cash to $5,000 cash or surety. He has been out on bond since Oct. 27.
