NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — President Donald Trump has pardoned former Tennessee House Speaker Glen Casada after he was sentenced to serve time in prison for his connection to a scheme to defraud the state, according to Casada's attorney.
Ed Yarbrough told News 2 that Casada received a call from Trump about a full pardon on Thursday. Casada was sentenced to serve 36 months in federal prison after he was convicted of 14 counts, including conspiracy, honest services fraud and money laundering. Even though a new trial was requested, it was not granted.
Meanwhile, Casada's former top aide Cade Cothren was sentenced to 30 months in prison and was ordered to pay a $25,000 fine.
