US President Donald Trump on Friday said he has discussed the possibility of denuclearisation with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping, calling the world’s massive nuclear stockpile unnecessary and wasteful.

“We had a tremendous meeting with President Xi of China, and my doctrine would be denuclearisation because we have enough nuclear," Trump said.

“We are number one, Russia is number two, China is number three, way behind, but they have been, even in four-five years, working overtime on nuclear weapons," he added.

“I think that denuclearisation would be a great thing. We could blow up the world 150 times. There’s no need for this," Trump said during an address.
