VISALIA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) — Visalia Unified's State of the District honored more than six decades of achievement on Thursday, including highlighting major student achievements.

"We have over 13,500 students benefitting from extended learning opportunities with 16 different community partners helping these students extend and expand their learning beyond the school day," Superintendent Kirk Shrum said.

Shrum says achievements include a 92% graduation rate and over 300 students in internships.

Academic scores from the recent California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) state assessment also continue to improve.
