Officers in Stockport are investigating after a fire was started near a war memorial just days before Remembrance Sunday.

Emergency services were called at around 9:50pm on Wednesday 5 November following reports of a group of males near to the Cenotaph in Marple. A fire was started in a bin and wooden pallets had been set alight, and the ground nearby damaged.
