The Victorian government is facing renewed calls to crack down on protests in Melbourne’s CBD following “deeply serious allegations” that activists were encouraged to attack police.
Images from a forum held at the University of Melbourne last month appear to show activists from the far-left Campaign Against Racism and Fascism (CARF) advising attendees to throw bricks at police - part of a strategy to be “militant in your ideology but flexible in your tactics”.
The forum was held on October 3, The Herald Sun reported, two weeks before violence erupted at an anti-immigration rally, during which counter-protesters hurled rocks, glass bottles and other projectiles at police.
