CORALVILLE — No. 1 Saint Ansgar (31-4) knocked off No. 2 Janesville in four sets (14-25, 25-22, 25-19, 25-20) to win the Iowa high school volleyball state championship in Class 1A on Nov. 6.
The Saints clinched their first state title in program history.
"I think it says a lot about the ladies — they are so strong and so mentally in the moment and I think that's really huge, especially in volleyball," said Saint Ansgar senior Sofia Parrott. "The group of ladies really wanted it this year and so did Janesville ... they made us work but we were ready for a dog fight, and I think we were able to push a little harder than normal."
