JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. (WJHL) — The Salvation Army of Johnson City culminated its Mission Essential: More Than a Bed Campaign on Thursday with the Champions of Hope Fundraiser.
The campaign raised funds for the Salvation Army's West Walnut Street shelter, which provides services such as healthcare, job training, and resource connections. The campaign began in July.
"It's mostly to our shelter, right now," Corp Officer Major R.C. Duskin said. "And we have a number of pieces and parts with that. And whether it's the veterans or our emergency shelter, our white flag shelter. But we also provide some other services, whether it's the food pantry and some other utility assistance, and so everything is going right back into the community to provide the support that folks need."
