Gov. Joe Lombardo has faced little resistance on his road to the Republican nomination for governor in next year’s election.

On Thursday, he cleared one of the most important hurdles for the party in recent years: an endorsement from President Donald Trump.

On Truth Social, the president’s social media platform, Trump highlighted Lombardo’s law enforcement background and his work to “Grow the Economy, Cut Taxes and Regulations, Ensure NO TAX ON TIPS, (and) Advance MADE IN THE U.S.A.”

The president also emphasized the governor’s views on school choice and stopping “migrant crime.”

“Joe Lombardo is the strong and very popular Governor of Nevada, a very special place to me in that we had a BIG Presidential Election Win just one year ago,” Trump wrote. “Lombardo is SMART, STRONG, AND TOUGH
