NEWBURGH, Ind. (WFIE) - At First Christian Church in Newburgh, the community came together to remember the lives lost and the first responders who were there to help in the tornado aftermath.
There were representatives from the Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office, Evansville Police Department, Knight Township Fire Department, and more.
There was lots of prayer and music, including a special song from victim C.J. Martin’s father.
Those who spoke tonight shared personal and emotional stories from the night the tornado hit.
“Getting that call, for the trailer park, and knowing my cousin was down there, and growing up, we were really close, more like brother and sister. That was the worst thing a first responder could go through,” Ryan Winters, KTFD, EPD, said.
