PORT ARTHUR, Texas — Port Arthur Mayor Charlotte Moses is celebrating the approval of Proposition A , a measure that will allow the city’s Economic Development Corporation to use sales tax revenue for a wider range of projects aimed at improving quality of life.

Voters approved the proposition Tuesday, converting the city’s EDC from a Type A to a Type B corporation. The change expands how the city can invest sales tax funds, opening opportunities to support community facilities, parks, housing, job growth, water improvements, and sports facilities.

Mayor Moses said she believes the change will help move Port Arthur forward. “We want to hear from the citizens and we wanna make sure that we’re meeting their needs because it’s all about the citizens of Port Arthur,” she said.
