WAILUA, Hawaii (Island News) – An Anahola woman died following a two-vehicle collision that occurred on Tuesday evening on Kuamo’o Road near Melia St. on Kauai.
According to the Kauai Police Department (KPD), the crash happened at approximately 6:30 p.m. when a 2019 Nissan van was traveling westbound on Kuamo’o Road when a 2006 Honda sedan was traveling eastbound crossed the centerline and collided head-on with the van.
The driver of the Honda sedan, later identified as 25-year-old Moani Kalima, was taken to the Wilcox Medical Center where she was later pronounced dead. The driver of the Nissan van, identified as a 50-year-old Kapa’a man, was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
As a result of the crash, police closed Kuamo’o Road in both directions for about 2.5 hours.
