A Lubbock District judge handed an 18-year-sentence to a 35-year-old Garza County man who admitted to causing a drunken crash in south Lubbock that killed a 17-year-old girl and seriously injured her sister.
Timothy Andrew Gonzalez of Post, who has been on bond since March 2022, pleaded guilty to intoxication manslaughter in the Aug. 19, 2021 crash near the intersection of South Loop 289 and Slide Road that killed Kashara Jackson.
Since his plea was not part of a negotiation with prosecutors with the Lubbock County District Attorney's Office, his punishment, which ranged from two to 20 years in prison, was determined by District Judge John McClendon.
