LAS VEGAS, N.M. —
The Las Vegas Animal Care Center will have a delayed opening after its set to receive 18 cats recently abandoned.

The animals were described as being in "poor condition" with the shelter already operating at full capacity. The dozen and a half cats are expected to arrive on Friday morning, Nov. 7.
Veterinary care and support will be provided to the incoming cats. Fosters are being asked to offer a safe and loving temporary home.
The care center said this emergency intake is an all-hands-on-deck situation. Phone calls may not be answered right away and people interested in fostering are being asked to leave a voicemail.
