The Supreme Court on Friday directed that stray dogs be removed from the premises of educational institutions, hospitals, bus stands, railway stations and similar public places, and relocated to designated dog shelters.
A Bench headed by Justice Vikram Nath ruled that once these dogs are relocated, they must not be released back to the same locations from where they were picked up.
The court also instructed all states and Union Territories to implement the recommendations submitted by the amicus curiae regarding the management and care of stray dogs.
