One thing stuck out about jockey Ethan Brown when he was a primary school-aged boy growing up in Alice Springs. He was kind to his sister Grace.
As a seven-year-old, he would chaperone her to the classroom, help unpack her bag and make sure she was organised for the day before heading off to start his own.
It is a heart-warming memory that stuck in the mind of their teacher at the time, Marg Simonetto.
“He was a delight,” the now-retired teacher tells The Age .
Simonetto talks about Brown because she has become one of his biggest fans. Several times a year she flies to Melbourne to visit her daughter Louise and while in the city heads out to Flemington or Caulfield to watch him ride.
