Lloyds Pharmacy doctor has issued flu advice as early wave hits the NHS

Flu season has arrived earlier than usual this year. According to the NHS , the winter flu wave has hit the UK a month earlier than expected , with cases three times higher than this time last year.

The UK Health Security Agency ’s (UKHSA’s) latest surveillance data shows cases have increased this week from 6.1% up to 8.2% – largely driven by a spike among school-aged children – and is up from 2.9% this time last year. This early increase has prompted concerns of flu spreading into the wider population in the coming weeks and triggering a "long and drawn-out flu season ".
