Chennai, Nov 7: Researchers at the Indian Institute of Technology-Madras (IIT-M) have developed an affordable, easy-to-use, and minimally invasive device that enables continuous glucose monitoring for diabetes patients.
Unlike conventional monitoring systems, this innovative device displays glucose levels directly on a wearable patch. It features a modular setup combining reusable electronics and a low-power display unit with a disposable microneedle sensor patch, according to a press release issued by IIT-M.
Designed to run on low power, the system extends battery life and minimizes the need for frequent charging. The display module and other key innovations have been secured through multiple Indian patents.
